Clot Retrieval Using Untethered Magnetic Robots

MSc assignment

Description:

This project focuses on designing, simulating, and testing an untethered magnetic robot for clot retrieval. The robot will be actuated using external magnetic fields, enabling it to navigate through vascular networks, locate a clot, and retrieve it safely. Key aspects include:

  • Understanding the influence of magnetic actuation on microrobot navigation.
  • Investigating the ability of the robot to engage with and extract clots under physiological flow conditions.
  • Evaluating retrieval efficiency and safety through in vitro experiments using artificial vascular models.
  • Comparing different robotic designs and control strategies to optimize performance.

Objective:

Investigate the feasibility of using untethered magnetic microrobots for retrieving blood clots from vascular pathways, particularly in deep-seated or complex vascular regions.
