At the AbilityTech citizen science hub, solutions for improving the quality of life for people with disabilities are being worked on.
For one of the involved co-designers, driver-assist functions for allowing eye-tracker control of an electric wheelchair are being developed. Instead of continuous control through the eye-tracker, assistive control using sensors is implemented. Essentially leading to an autonomous indoor driving vehicle, that is instructed through an eye-tracker interface.
The project will consist of combining the existing hardware with sensors and other hardware and using the previously made software framework. This is then turned into successive minimal viable products to expand the level of autonomy of the user of the wheelchair.
