In a previous graduation project, a prototype of a microscope was built based around a camera module attached to a Raspberry PI. The frame housing this camera module was 3D-printed using an open-source model of a microscope frame, and an arm was built on top of this frame to hold the camera module. The frame provides a platform that can be moved so an object can be viewed from different angles, as well as an RTI-dome to select different lighting options and angles.
This project aims to improve this microscope even further. By fixing some of the shortcomings of the previous project. Such as messy cable management, limited movement of the platform and a still yet very prototype looking design. Along with some other features that might have to be added based on other shortcomings discovered during the design process. In the end, the current prototype should look like a streamlined microscope with a new frame and handy features that improve the workability of the microscope itself.
