Reducing Biopsy Needle Insertion Force Using Vibration and Bidirectional Rotation

BSc assignment

This bachelor assignment focuses on the design and evaluation of a prototype system for reducing biopsy needle insertion force using axial vibration and bidirectional rotation. The project investigates how insertion speed, vibration parameters, and rotational motion influence the required insertion force in tissue phantoms and pig skin.

The prototype is used as a proof of concept and as a basis for recommendations toward a future compact and MRI-compatible needle insertion system.
