Demonstration of a Multi-Axis Stepper Motor in a Robotic System

This presentation describes the design and build of an in-pipe drawing robot that uses a multi-axis stepper motor. The robot is a screw drive in-pipe robot (SDIR). Two versions of the robot are built, one with a 1-armed SDIR and one with a 2-armed SDIR.

The performance of these robots is compared with regards to linear velocity, efficiency, motor body rotation, pulling force and drawing accuracy.
