Realizing DC electric metamaterials through Fused Deposition Modelling

This bachelor assignment deals with the fabrication of metamaterials through 3D printing. The Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) process of 3D printing is used to create metamaterials that are able to anisotropically conduct current. The effect of different printing parameters in the 3D printing process on the strength of the anisotropic conduction is studied and tested experimentally.

The resulting conduction characteristics are measured through voltage probing, microscopy, and infra-red thermography.

Finally, the assignment concludes with examples of how the results can be applied to fabricate metamaterials.
