3D printing integrated functionality for self-assembly purposes

Finished: 2016-07-12

BSc assignment

The goal of this project is to integrate functionality (sensors and electronics) by 3D printing and embedding functional parts. This is connected to the example of self-assembly experiments with (magnetic) spheres in a turbulent water flow. To measure connecting of these spheres sensors and a way to provide the data has to be included in the spheres.

Several options for sensing and communicating will be considered and tested. Spheres will be constructed from this. The final system has to be experimentally evaluated to test it's performance.

The main difficulty of the assignment is to design the parts of the complex system and integrate them (or even fabricate them) with 3D printing.
