Evaluation of a feature-based design method for rapid development of hardware in cyber-physical systems

Finished: 2021-04-16

MSc assignment

The department of Robotics and Mechatronics developed a feature-based design method for cyber-physical systems. The design method has been tested for software and existing hardware. Remaining is a test for the design method applied in development of new hardware. Testing and evaluating this design method is the goal of this assignment.
The design method constitutes a structured way to apply rapid development principles and modeling techniques. The development of the new design method is triggered by the increased simulation time due to the complexity of cyber-physical systems.

For this assignment the design method will be investigated and validated as a technique for hardware development. To achieve this, we will choose a hardware function, develop this hardware, document the design process, and evaluate the complete process. To document the design process in a consistent and repro-ducible form we will set up a protocol. This protocol dictates the documentation process. The final assessment is based on this documentation and provides us with improvements of the method Eventually, if the application of the design method on a physical system is successful, it will satisfy as a proof of concept.
